Gap Seal

For movement joints and junctions of building elements, Dufaylite Gap Seal  provides a fire and flame proof barrier for up to 4 hours.

In fire conditions, Dufaylite Gap Seal maintains a close fitting position to prevent the passage of cold smoke. The Gap Seal foam is gradually eroded and replaced by the intumescent component to maintain a fire resistant barrier at the fire face. 

  • Gap Seal can be used with many normal building materials including brick, concrete and timber. 
  • Operate in any orientation, vertical, horizontal, oblique
  • Gap Seal comes in a range of sizes and fire ratings from 1 hour to 4 hours
  • Passive fire protection
  • Water resistant for humid and damp locations
  • Easy to install without special equipment
  • Locates by compression fit and can be bonded in place using Dufaylite Silicone 4 fire resistant sealant

Gap Seal Applications

Gap Seal in structure:

  • At movement joints in cast or masonry elements
  • At large seismic movement joints
  • At structural movement joints, e.g. against windage
  • At wall roof details

Gap Seal in cavities:

  • To prevent fire spreading in any direction
  • In timber frame constructions
  • Behind large door frames

 Gap Seal internally:

  • At ends of partion runs
  • In partition head or ground detail
  • Under suspended floors
  • Within suspended ceiling voids
  • In tapered, irregular or curved joints
